What are the rituals of business? Which little mantras or tiny habits create substance and texture among our many actions?
In this podcast, Alan Kearns interviews John Izzo, author of The Five Secrets You Must Discover Before You Die. Izzo’s book summarizes what he learned from asking 240 people aged 50 to 106 what made their lives meaningful. At around minute 30 of the interview Alan and John start discussing “life rituals” – the daily choices and daily pauses that create a meaningful life.
In the interview they talk about gratitude. They talk about giving versus getting. They touch on presence.
How might these ideas impact my business? How are they a part of our story arc?
I think there are three ways:
– If we concentrate on giving, our clients get more than they bargained for.
– If we focus on the whole, the small parts will sort themselves out.
– While we work on the future, rituals would remind us to work from the present.
The renaissance of old technologies (or the cost of new in innovation)
